Get talking

Don't bottle up your worries

Hidden worry about your stammer might come out in other ways, like being silly in class, or pretending you don't care about your schoolwork. Then you can get into trouble as teachers may not realise that really you are frightened of stammering when you speak.

Get used to talking with your friends and be a good listener when they tell you about their worries.

Go to your English teacher for help with your oral work, and make sure s/he knows how you feel.

If you are worried about going on your own, ask your form tutor, your speech and language therapist or your parents to go with you.

Keep a diary of anything that helped you manage your speaking and talk that over with your teacher and therapist.
